It's official: Kit Harington is taking a vacation from the high fantasy of Westeros for the even-higher reaches of space in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Best known for his role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, Harington will play the leader of the Settlement Defense Front (the bad guys).
Harington is certainly more youthful than his Call of Duty villain predecessors, Christopher Meloni and Kevin Spacey, which likely reflects the old-versus-new conflict at the heart of Infinite Warfare. It will also be a big change for Game of Thrones viewers, who are used to rooting for him as (season six spoiler ahead) one of the series' few surviving fan favorites. You can catch a video on the official Call of Duty Facebook page showing him staring evenly at a camera in one of those silly mocap suits.
"Kit is an amazing talent, and the consummate pro," Infinity Ward narrative director Taylor Kurosaki said in a press release. "Our story is about an epic showdown of opposing forces, and Kit immersed himself into the role and truly became the embodiment of the enemy, the Settlement Defense Front. We can't wait for fans to see Kit play an entirely different kind of character."
Infinity Ward also brought in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. director Guy Ritchie to work with with Harington on the performance. Ritchie previously directed the "Surprise" trailer for Black Ops 2, so he's familiar with the basic "lots of people trying to kill each other" premise of the series.
