Red Dead Redemption runs better on Xbox One than it did on Xbox 360

Long was its coming foretold, and now it has arrived - Red Dead Redemption is finally available on Xbox One thanks to backwards compatibility. But was the wait worth it? That's the question the noted techno-wizards over at Digital Foundry set out to answer, and after running the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of the game side by side, they've given us an answer:

Red Dead Redemption not only runs well on Xbox One, without any major technical issues, but does so at a noticeably more stable framerate.

I admit, when I first watched the footage, I thought that draw distance had improved as well, but the minor differences you see can be attributed to the game's dynamic weather and time of day systems. Pop-in, texture resolution, and lighting are all the same. Short of inventing a time machine and travelling to the year 2010, it's the closest you'll get to the way you felt playing the game for the first time on Xbox 360.

Speaking of which, if you need a little help getting back in the saddle, we've refreshed our Red Dead Redemption guides and walkthroughs to help you out.
