It seems dangerous to go back to basics with World War One weaponry but DICE has revealed some new details about its approach for Battlefield 1. The machine guns and clubs all come straight from the the early 20th century as the war necessitated the invention of new tools.
But this doesn't mean weapons will be constantly jamming and failing. While everything has been recorded and recreated down to the last bullet casing, the team says "we're not recreating the past. We're taking that as an inspiration and trying to take this into a modern perspective". Plus, the trailer alone is worth it just to see how satisfying it looks to throw a stick grenade from a window and onto a tank.
