The Witcher 3: Complete Edition won't let you carry over your standard edition save

The Witcher 3: Complete Edition looks like a great version of a great game - every piece of DLC, including the Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine expansions, all wrapped up in one discount package? Who could say no? Well, if you've already put in any serious amount of time into Geralt's final adventure, you might want to hold off, as the Complete Edition will not support save transfers.

"The save files on consoles won't be compatible between different game versions (GOTY vs regular version) as they are treated by systems as separate products," CD Projekt RED community lead Marcin Momot posted on the developer's forums. "This is something that's not up to us. Sorry."

It's not all bad news, though. The Complete Edition will also have its own Achievements and Trophies, so if you're a glutton for punishment and want to grind out those awards and prove yourself the true master of the Northern Realms, go for it.

The Witcher 3: Complete Edition will hit PS4, Xbox One, and PC on August 30.
