This week's episode of Retronauts touched briefly on NES classic Metal Storm. It's a great game, but ultimately probably one that's better seen in action than explained... which is why I'll be streaming it today.
I'll be heading over to the USgamer Twitch channel today at noon Pacific/3 p.m. Eastern to make an attempt at finishing the game. It's a pretty short platformer, but I don't think I've played it beyond Stage Three in about, ahhh, more years than I care to admit. Even if I find its inverted physics beyond my capabilities as an elderly man, though, you can at least glom the game in action — something that's become ridiculously difficult to do legally, thanks to the insane cost of the game at auction and the fact that publisher Irem has backed out of console gaming altogether.
As you can see from the header art, I'll be tackling this stream legit — I've swabbed down the (filthy!) contacts on my Metal Storm cartridge to ensure smooth sailing. If I don't complete the game today, it won't be because the cartridge glitched out on me! No, the failings will be mine and mine alone.
Again, I'll begin playing today at 3 p.m. Eastern Time (noon Pacific). Let's see how much of this game we can complete in the space of an hour. Please join me!
