Another Wednesday means new Media Create data. Last week saw the release of Dark Souls III and a new Dragon Quest to take the top two spots in the top ten. This week sees Dragon Quest hit a stumbling block as both Star Ocean and Yo-Kai have new games to contend with. When Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 released in February, Dragon Quest Builders also fell from first place, but still managed to stay in second. The wildly popular franchise had no such luxury this time around.
Yo-Kai Sangokushi took top honors this week with 269,516 sales. Unlike your standard Yo-Kai Watch titles, Sangokushi is a crossover between Level-5's Yo-Kai Watch and Koei Tecmo's Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness also released this week after suffering a delay at the end of 2015. Even though Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 fell to third place this week, Square Enix still manages to hold on to two of the top three spots. Dark Souls III kept a firm hold on fourth place, successfully keeping Pokken Tournament in fifth.
Console sales are much the same as last week despite lower numbers. Hardware across the board was down slightly over last week. The lone exception was the Xbox One, which saw a significant increase percentage wise compared to last week's numbers. The PlayStation 4 remained in first place with 30,081 units, followed by the New 3DS LL with 22,020 sales. On the lower end of the spectrum, the Xbox One saw a nearly 400% increase in sales over the past week, jumping up to 207 systems sold in Japan compared to last week's 55.
