Over the summer, Oculus dropped the price of the Oculus Rift and Touch controllers to a much more reasonable price of $399 before bumping it back to $499. At the Oculus Connect event today they announced that the price is now being permanently reduced to $399.

This price reduction is good news for gamers wanting to join the VR action, it’s still a high price to play, but it makes it more affordable. The Vive is still the best selling VR headset but now the Oculus is cheaper and there’s no sign of HTC planning to drop the price, the Rift is bound to catch up. Whether HTC will drop their prices remains to be seen.

“This new permanent price opens up PC VR to the widest audience yet. And more people in VR means more people to play, connect, and share with, whether you’re diving into groundbreaking new first-person shooters like ARKTIKA.1 or exploring the depths of space in the award-winning Echo franchise“, says Oculus.

This reduced price bundle includes the Rift headset, two Touch controllers, and two sensors. The price drop comes into immediate effect.

In other news, Oculus introduced the Rift Core 2.o which includes two new systems, Dash and a redesigned Home. The videos below show what’s changed.
