Yesterday Oculus released the Oculus Rift 1.4 runtime which rendered ReVive useless preventing Vive users from playing games purchased through the Oculus Store.
Since the update launched, ReVive creator CrossVR has managed to bypass the Oculus Platform’s DRM once again to a limited extent.
I really didn’t want to go down this path, but I feel there is no other way. This release bypasses the Oculus Platform DRM in Unreal Engine games, so the entitlement check doesn’t fail because the headset isn’t connected.
I still do not support piracy, do not use this library for pirated copies.
Only Oculus Dreamdeck has been tested so far, but it should work for every Unreal Engine game. Bypassing the DRM in Unity Engine games is being worked on, will be added to the next version.
The new libraries are available on the gitbub page should anyone want to try this out. It probably won’t be long until everything works again but
The whole situation is turning into a bit of a farce, and by Oculus closing out VR users from buying games through their store, they are simply harming the future of VR.
