Ubisoft closing multiple free to play games - Mighty Quest for Epic Loot and more

Numerous posts from Ubisoft have appeared announcing the closure of at least three free to play titles.

Three games have are getting the chop, the initially promising looking Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, Might & Magic Duel of Champions, and Tom Clancy’s End War Online.

Each page for each game states it has not been an “easy decision to make” but it seems it was quite an easy decision for Ubi as they are about to pull the plug on these games around the same time in October.

Mighty Quest for Epic Loot will be shutting on 25 October, Might & Magic Duel of Champions closes on 31 October, and EndWar Online closes on 31 October.

UbiSoft has obviously not seen the cash flow in from these which is not surprising. Games such as Epic Loot was effectively a pay to win release which was a shame because the concept was a good one. That has managed to stay online since 5 February 2015.

Duel of Champions of fared somewhat better and was launched back in 2013 and the community seems genuinely sad to see it go. EndWar Online has only been going since December 2015 and it’s already being axed.

Perhaps UbiSoft is moving away from this free to play / pay to win model which does not go down will with today’s gamers.
