They don’t do much in the way of direct communication these days, but Hello Games are continuing to patch No Man’s Sky on PC. The latest of those patches, version 1.09, has been released today.
The opening change-log note states “The game is now much more robust at recovering corrupted save files”, which gives you a pretty good idea of the sorts of issues the development team are still fighting. This patch is another run at bugs, issues, and problems, rather than the addition of any kind of new features.
It looks to have come too late to save No Man’s Sky’s reputation on PC, where the game’s player-base has collapsed from a launch figure of over 210,000 (which, granted, was always going to be incredibly hard to sustain), to figures closer to 1,800 today. On 21 September, the concurrent player figures dipped underneath the 1,000 mark for the first time.
For those hardy souls still sticking with No Man’s Sky, here are the 1.09 patch notes.
