In more of the more bizarre decisions this year, Activision decided that PC players who purchased Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare on the Windows Store could not play against PC player using Steam.
The decision was made by Activision and not Microsoft but it meant Windows Store gamers couldn’t find other players to play against because most players purchased the game through Steam.
Microsoft issued a statement to Windows Central last week confirming they had nothing to do with it, “We support cross-play between devices and platforms for partners who want to enable it.”
The game was cheaper on the Windows Store than on Steam but the saving wasn’t worth it if you couldn’t find other players to play with.
According to Redditor Hayzoos (via Motherboard), Microsoft will now refund anyone who purchased the game via the Windows Store. Good job Activision.
